OUR STORY

At Yummy, milk is where it all began. And time has flown, from milk we turned to ice cream, which we started making back in 2007! Since then, we've opened up our farm restaurant, the Hide & Hoof, hosted weddings, festivals, workshops, makers markets and so much more. We'd love you to be a part of our Yummy story.

2007

Yummy Yorkshire began as the idea of Jeremy & Louise Holmes. An artisan ice cream business, born from a surplus of cream, and from a third-generation dairy farmer who was keen to make his mark as custodian of the farm.

2007

Starting with an initial investment of £24k back in 2007, the wheels were set in motion to create a product that reflected the creative flair of our founders. Launching with a unique liquorice flavour, we quickly put ourselves on the 'foodie' map and bagged a top accolade with the Great Taste Awards which gave our fledging business the boost it needed in our early stages. This start was followed by a fair few more Great Taste Awards!

2008

Mastering a dairy related food wasn't quite enough for us however, as we quickly recognised the opportunities we had with increased footfall on our farm. In 2008, just a year after we launched, we opened a 19-seater ice cream parlour. As we know ice cream is a little more seasonal, we added a simple food menu too, so people could come up and enjoy a visit all year round.

2010

Over the last ten years, we've invested heavily to ensure our spot in Yorkshire is placed firmly on the map. We've always advocated to push our brand by gradually adding new activities and developments as our footfall and confidence has allowed. Since our launch, we've hosted beautiful barn and tipi wedding receptions, along with creative workshops, events, and even festivals! Tractor Fest was a huge success, raising vital funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance - they even landed in our field!

2017

In 2017, following continually investing in both our team and surroundings, we are now the proud owners of the Hide & Hoof, an 80-seater farm restaurant! This is just alongside our 30-seater ice cream parlour, both which work perfectly together! Full of rustic charm, encompassing our farming roots throughout. We're proud to employ over thirty local people across a range of roles!

2020

In March 2020, our restaurant and parlour was forced to close in lockdown, as the world grappled with the pandemic. We started home deliveries of fresh milk, eggs, bread, veg boxes and of course, ice cream. We temporarily transformed into a takeout business, so that we could do everything to keep going through difficult and challenging times for everyone. After three months of being closed, we opened our doors again at the start of July 2020.

2021

Following a challenging period, we got creative, and implemented new ideas and technologies into the business to keep on growing. Our takeout option which we launched, continued following our reopening alongside our daytime service. Much to our regular customers' delight, we introduced a Hide & Hoof booking system, allowing you to plan ahead and reserve both our indoor and outdoor booth tables.

2021 also saw our Udder Parlour become a permanent fixture on the farm! And alongside this, came our new horsebox bar, The Bull Bar, with draught lager, beers, spirits, and hot and cold drinks.

2026

Over the past few years, we've continued to grow, and welcome visitors from across Yorkshire and further afield. Our Hide & Hoof farm restaurant is the perfect place for a delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea, with seasonal menus crafted by our talented team. Alongside, in the Parlour, we're scooping twenty artisan flavours at any one time, with classics and limited editions alike! You'll find bakes, sundaes, waffles, and so much more to sweeten up your day. It's the perfect place for a casual call-in!

Not forgetting, Market on the Farm is bigger than ever. Hosting wonderful makers and traders in the barn throughout the year, and over the festive season with Christmas Market on the Farm! We absolutely love welcoming you all to the farm, thanks for being a part of our Yummy story so far. Here's to the next chapter!
