We are joining forces with One Community, the new Kirklees Charitable Foundation, to host a sponsored firewalk challenge to raise much-needed funds for local voluntary groups.
We are inviting brave members of the public to walk barefoot over red hot burning embers this autumn as part of a sponsored ‘Firewalk Challenge’ taking place right here at Yummy Yorkshire on Saturday 11 October, from 6.30pm.
By undertaking the ‘Walk of Fire’, participants will be raising vital funds to enable the Foundation to continue its work, managing the grants that it gives to Kirklees voluntary groups.
To take part in the challenge you must be aged 18 and over and need to raise a minimum sponsorship of £125 plus pay a £25 registration fee.
The event on 11 October will start with an inspiring two hour seminar and training session before participants take to the 800 degrees centigrade burning embers.
Paul Johnson from One Community, said: “We would like to thank Yummy Yorkshire for hosting this event for us and for supporting our work. It promises to be a great night, and to reassure fellow Firewalkers that there is nothing to worry about, I have volunteered to go first across the hot coals. I have done a Firewalk before, and it was such a fantastic and empowering experience, that I have no hesitation about doing it again.”
Our BBQ and bar serving warm spiced cider and local Farmers Blonde Beer along with other refreshments will keep spectators entertained as they wait to watch friends or family compete. Cooling Ice Cream will also be available and the Pennine Ramblers African drumming group will be performing on the night!
Our Yummy Yorkshire co-founder Jeremy Holmes said: “We’re excited to be holding this event on the farm and are calling on members of the community to take part and raise valuable funds for our local community.
“For those not quite brave enough why not come along and support the Firewalkers on what promises to be a unique night? The event starts at 6.30pm, no ticket is required, just turn up and support the brave fire-walkers!”
