We are celebrating this month after bagging our tenth Great Taste Award in just seven years.
Tipping our accolades via the well-known culinary scheme into double figures, we can add the one-star award – given to us for our innovative Carrot & Cardamom ice cream – to our ever-growing collection.
We joined forces with fellow Yorkshire food producer Puckett’s Pickles to create the innovative ice cream, which uses the aromatic spice of cardamom.
The flavour – said to be an aphrodisiac due to cardamom being high in cineole, an ingredient which increases blood flow around the body – was picked up by The Mail Online and championed by Alan Titchmarsh and guests in his TV show earlier this year.
It seems the judges at The Great Taste awards were big fans, too, with comments taking into account the ‘lovely cardamom aroma and delicate flavour’. The judges went on to say the ice cream had a smooth base free of crystals, the sweetness was ‘well-balanced’ with a ‘delicious, inviting aroma’ and a ‘superb appearance’.
Sarah Puckett of Puckett’s Pickles said of the recent ice cream collaboration: “It was great fun working with Louise and seeing my chutneys being made into ice cream. Who would have thought you could combine the two? And my goodness the resulting ice cream tastes so delicious.”
Acknowledged by producers, retailers and consumers as the definitive, independent benchmark for speciality food and drink, The Great Taste Awards have been dubbed ‘the Oscars of the food world’.
Our founder Jeremy Holmes says: “We’re thrilled we’ve won yet another Taste award; we think it’s a great achievement for such a small business like ours. We’re always working to create unusual flavours and we’re pleased the people behind Great Taste loved our Carrot & Cardamom ice cream as much as we do.”
It’s been a successful month for us; we’ve recently discovered Yummy Yorkshire has also been shortlisted in the Lunch Business Awards as Best Independent Outlet.
